My daughter has gotten lice a bunch of times, help!?
I have cleaned, sprayed, vacuumed, boiled brushes, and everyone that she has been around has treated their houses, I am wondering if maybe I am not getting everything off the furniture, and those sprays from the store are not killing them anymore. I know I am getting all of the eggs too because every time she has gotten it, I have spent at least 2 hours going through her hair to pick out all of the nits, and I have taken advice from other people on this site and used coconut shampoo and other products in her hair when I thought I had the problem under control
Any suggestions for other remedies for furniture?
I have taken her to the doctor, and I have also used rid, now she is taking some medicine for it also, I just don’t want to get it back, I have boiled all brushes, and sprayed the car
I have also used a product called Lice Ice, and NIX.

Maybe dont take advice from people from the internet?
Check with the school nurse. Probably picking it up from a classmate.
You’ve checked brushes and furniture, but be sure to check hair bands, hats, visors, scruncis, or anything else that comes into contact with her and her friends. Maybe even spraying out the family car is necessary since heads touch the seats.
Do you have any pets?
There is a product called: RID shampoo for hair lice. If that does’nt work, then take her to a doctor (something you have’nt mentioned doing yet). Also ask her if she has been using combs and brushes of other children at school,or maybe putting on their hats and scarves. Instead of constantly buying products to clean the furniture, get rid of it,and invest in a bottle of RID shampoo for her hair.
Does she ride the bus? I got lice when I was little because I sat next to a girl on the bus who had lice. Also, have you used a shampoo like Rid that’s probably a little stronger than coconut shampoo?
I guess the most important question is; Is your child in school? If so, is there an outbreak at school because regardless of what you’re doing at home, if other kids have lice they’re still going to get it. A permethrin shampoo like Rid or Nix will get rid of head lice. If prevention of head lice just isn’t possible and you find head lice on your children or yourself, you should treat your daughter head lice immediately with a head lice shampoo. Rid, Nix, and just about anything with permethrins or pyrethrins will get rid of head lice. Another, less common, head lice treatment is Lindane. Most over-the-counter head lice treatments have a 1% concentration of the active insecticidal ingredient, so there isn’t really much of a health risk. Washing your bedding and clothes in very hot water will get rid of head lice. To get rid of head lice infestations, thoroughly vacuum places where people rest often, even the sofa. If none of this works, you might want to go to the doctor for prescription strength shampoo. You might even want to buy new sheets, pillowcases, comforters, towels, and other things like that.
Well I hate to tell you this, seeing all the effort you put into cleaning and all. Lice don’t leave a host willingly, unless there is another meal ticket available. They require a live host, with warm blood to live. And it really does need to be a human head. You need to use the commercial shampoo kits sold for the purpose – one kit for every head in the household, and repeat that shampoo process again in 3-4 days. Your daughter is getting them from somebody else, more than likely. It’s not anywhere in your furniture, the rugs, or even the family pets. When the kids are in school, the safest way to handle the girls’ hair is to keep it braided tight and in a hairstyle that keeps it up close to their head so it doesn’t swing away from the body at all. You only have to clean and treat head related items- the hair ribbons, hats, brushes and the pillowcase. That’s it- honestly. Human head lice just don’t live on anything else but a human head. Have a good close look at her friends and classmates, because that’s the source of the critters. It’s not you, it’s not your house. The only thing other than the shampoo that can possibly help is tea tree oil. You can use that to help repel the lice, but it’s not 100% guaranteed to work. It sounds like you are doing all you can do, but somebody else is not. And unfortunately, until you can track down the source, the best defense is the shampoo and hair done up close to the head with nothing loose.
Been there, done that.
Gone thru the usual assortments products over the counter and even the prescription products. What worked best for us was a product called Lice R Gone. Do yourself a favor and buy, it’ll save you tons of grief. The kids liked it better too because the over-the-counter stuff burned their scalps.
Also, lice reaches sexual maturity in 10-14 days so we would wash treat their hair every weekend for 3 or 4 weeks to be sure we killed them.
Don’t forget to wash the sheets and vacuum the furniture.
Again, check out the website, it’ll answer nearly all your questions.
